To Wichita: Don Hammond Julio Peguero Ted Dawkins

Interesting trade as LA acquires a young developing outfielder in Bing Payton who rakes righties. He is also a superior defensive corner outfielder who has a chance to develop into a below average defensive CF. Wichita gets Hammond who is a good reliever in his arbitration years so his salary is likely to increase. Peguero needs to develop his control and pitches in order to be an effective player, As of now it looks like he might top out as an inconsistent but effective at times arm in the bullpen, while Dawkins appears to be a career minor leaguer. Although Payton is not worth his high 70s overall rating, I have to think that could be parlayed into more than what Wichita received. In this trade I'm going to say the team that got the best player came out victorious.
